5 Steps to Immediate, Comprehensive Care

The Dyer Care Center (DCC) is a “no wrong door facility.” No one 18 years and older, whether voluntary or involuntary, is turned away, and no guest requires medical clearance from an emergency room before being admitted. Here is the process once a resident arrives at the center:

All guests will be assessed and admitted, regardless of a guest’s ability to pay. The DCC does not require guests to have insurance.

Upon arrival, every guest will first meet a Peer Support Specialist, someone who has personally navigated mental health and/or substance use recovery. The Peer Support Specialist connect, engage, and welcome each guest into the facility. Each guest will be empowered and advocated for to lead their own recovery by their peer support specialist throughout their stay.

Through our rapid welcome process, guests will receive both a psychiatric assessment and a physical health assessment, meticulously conducted by our highly trained and licensed Behavioral Health Clinicians and Medical Team to address a guest’s immediate needs and set them up for care.

Guests immediately begin appropriate behavioral health intervention services, which include stabilization, medication administration, individual counseling, group therapy, and around-the-clock support from an interdisciplinary team. The DCC provides a safe, comfortable, home-like atmosphere for treatment and recovery, while making every effort to eliminate seclusion or restraint of our guests.

Most guests are discharged after 23 hours or less. For all guests who require a higher level of care or a longer stay in a safe environment, we will work with a community provider to arrange direct transport to those services. For those guests who do not require a higher level of care, outpatient resources with a community provider for long-term behavioral healthcare will be provided. These guests will be provided transportation back to their place of residence.
